Disbelief

Picture
I awoke
Drenched in disbelief
From the dream deferred
Startled and stuttering
I searched for something
A little more real

For unearthed in my slumber
Was the reflection of your being
Rippling its way gently
Onto the shore of my soul

"It cannot be," I cried
"There's just no way"
"This does not exist"

And resist I did
As you started crashing
Your waves, falling as fate
Where free will thought
It was destined to be

Until the 100th wave
When my self went shattering
Succumbing to sand
A crystallization of truth
From the shards of me

For when eternity goes crumbling
A space is left
For the flourishing of faith
The opposite of all
We think we can see

Yet despite the depth
Of our defying connection
And the new found belief
In the twinning of our flames

There never once was
A making for each other
For instead, in each other
Had we always been made

Because all that science just gets old after a while.
