Resting in the calm
Of the day's first light We are blessed with the Choice To live with the peace Passing into our being Or to go with the storm, Calling out from the cliffs To hear nature's silence Ringing out through the Forest Or to listen to that voice, Doubting all that we are To walk with two feet, Upright and unwavering Or to wander the ways far From our right path So take a deep breath As you watch the sun wake Born new once again after Its night of dark slumber And allow your heart to Realize it's own true potential As the chrysalis for a soul Now ready to love Having chosen the calm Of the day's first light

Calling back
In the only way they know The stars are always Speaking No matter the silence you May perceive For it is in their light That dreams are born Seeds of hope Planted in the open hearts Willing to listen The ones simply being with The night Its mystery unfolding A story of faith Science will always struggle To understand So lay with me now Sharing in their splendor Their song bringing strength To those fearing the divide For the miles apart Are just another reason To shine a little brighter Listening to the stars In the only way we know Love poems
They say Are cheesy Cliche Full of roses And violets And little men Frolicking about With arrows And diapers Love poems They say Are meant For the angsty The teenage disaster Cascading Until you ask her Out to prom Love poems They say Can only be written on Napkins And half done homework Stained by Coca Cola And skittles And whatever that was Your mom packed For lunch So judge away If you will For the love poems Will never care Sappy and salty Crappy and faulty Always destined To get a little bit naughty For they are all we have To fight the shadow of hate That could never possibly Know What it's really like To write What could not be said Without a gel pen And a heart willing To ask Will you try to love With me? Between stimulus and response
There is a space A choice A reality That Viktor Frankl lived And shared So eloquently Even amidst The most egregious of atrocities Exists this space No matter the oppression The suffering Or unbelievable disarray It cannot be destroyed The space Ineffable Waits for you to see it To feel it To know it's alive You will be hurt You will be hit You will be stomped into the dirt You will be forgotten You will be misunderstood You will be left to wonder Why You will be belittled You will be attacked You will be made to feel like You don't exist But by the breath in your lungs You do By the soul traversing the Veins to your heart You are By the mystery who made it alll so You will forever be Anger you see is an emotion Not a dictum to scream To Maim To Hurt Anger, frustration, sorrow, resentment Cannot be choices Because they are not the space Living in it and being it Are not the same you see My house I have to hold my joy But how could it be me? The space cannot begin to judge Does not keep a lock and key It simply offers us all the choice To think of what could be If we choose instead to sheath the sword And forget an eye for eye Stopping the path that hurt had walked So love could ask us why We think we need to say such things To get away from pain Tossing them into another's life So we can feel the gain The up, the lift when it's not us That carries the hurt inside The burden become the other's yoke Their problems to deny The space you see is here to help So we don't have to throw The hurt we feel when other's speak And seek to break us so The space can melt and transform the hurt If you believe in love If you believe in other's joy If you know what's above So thank you sir for this beeautiful space That at first I could not see Thank you for knowing there was a choice For us to know we're free Where have the words
Gone That spoke of love and Summers never Meant to Last Words that aroused a hope That would flood a room With kindess Bringing you Deeper And deeper Into me What is this air Thick now With the saturation of Cynics Defamation Desquamation How could there ever be A nation Drowning itself In a sea of shredded Souls Left When words Come passing on Through Sticks and stones you say As you bleed out From the crevices You cannot see I do not pretend To say it doesn't hurt I just won't pretend To not care To not burn inside To yearn beside Those that sing And dance And breathe Carrying on Until their hearts have Found Where the words have gone They drip
As rain From invisible clouds They appear In the spaces Between leaves After a swift summer Breeze They erupt With the marigolds To be carried To where only hearts Can see They awake in dreams And sleep when one Has everything else To do They are love Waiting Crying out for what Cannot be said They are moonlight Forgetting they Themselves Need your splendor To actually glow They find the ones Sipping sweetly Over what we call tea Knowing it's not ears They need To manifest But the courage of a Poet With faith enough to know They can be In the stairwell
He crumbled Overcome by whys That sought to drown out What if's For what really Were the chances You would slow down To see the one Wondering how He had never found his way To you Losing himself in lavender While he got carried away In the chamomile There was no way He could hear the patient's plea With you so close But still too far to see Tap tap tap Your fingers doing the work As your heart struggled To remain free The screen Stealing more than eyes From the ones Who needed us most Day after day He stumbled by Awkward the closest of kin Just for another moment In the presence of the one He sought so desperately to understand Weeks now That routine wearing down What little courage There could have been What would happen next When he had to say Goodbye? Staring now At the ceiling Where dreams go to die The whisper came With the first rays of light Begging him to climb The stairway to heaven So there he was Crumbling One flight to go To simply see The what if You had made for he Without reason Without fail You emerged to answer Neither of them knowing time Or why They cried You with your tears And he with his smiles What else was there to embrace But now? Holding onto What he thought Might be the last He could feel the armor Soften The scars beneath Still seeping with blood Dripping their way softly Until they could rest With his own The mystery Watching overhead Redeeming Believing And through al things Conceiving The miracle of love Wondering how He had ever found His way To two With the fall of water
From summer's first storm From the bosom of the Mother Who forever remains fertile Is birthed life within life For the Earth to grow old Did you see the sun rise With the water come too? What was the mighty power That brought two into one? Where were the wondrous wings That fled straight from the mud? Seeking the free fall These drops come from the void Giving up the hidden choice For the moment of their release? Why wish the drop at all To ever let it go? What must have been the roar Inside this floating faith The drops become the man As if their hands could hold the air Breaking brinks the Gods had blessed As the way into the world For what really isthe heart But a vessel to be filled To give to flowing veins Receiving and releasing The love that came to beat With the fall of water If I could describe
The space between lips Would I cease to use words Or bother to speak Would I walk with wings And pray with the meek If I could describe The space between breaths Would I cease to need bread Or year for the wine Would I hear His heart And know we're Divine If I could describe The space between hands Would I cease to seal shame Or bother with hurt Would I love nothing more Than bodies from dirt If I could describe The space between lines Would I cease to see black Or bother with white Would we heal held hate And fill holes with light If I could describe The space between weaves Would I cease to doubt Son Or bother with fear Would I make my peace With what we have here If I could describe The space before love Would I cease to know faith Or bother with The Boy Could I have met You And come to know joy Chasing highs
I thought you were too far Floating away On your little white cloud With beauty struggling To keep up Swimming in sky I wondered What it would be like To touch the Untouchable To rest with the divine On the only pillows Made for the mystery That was your love And the thought That we ever needed to go Chasing Highs |
